NEXEN AIR CHAMP CLUTCH APPLICATIONS Conversion from Electric to Air System in Small Ball Mill Problem This customer wished to convert their ball mill system, which used a 5 hp, 1800 RPM motor, from electric over to pneumatic. Solution Conversion including the addition of a Nexen L600 clutch, was fairly easy and afforded a number of immediate benefits. The electrical design incorporated a jog/run switch which was activated by a start switch. A user hitting the start switch without first setting the jog/run switch could find themselves in the wrong mode. The pneumatic system eliminates that risk, thereby increasing safety. Also, since the motor runs continuously, motor burnouts have been dramatically reduced. This same system can be equally successful and beneficial when used with conveyors, machine tools, and packaging and windup equipment. back to clutch applications page
