Equally important to consistent heat transfer in the dryer section is uniform heat reduction in the cooling section. The cooling cylinder must reduce the sheet temperature to a specific degree uniformly across the web. An effective cooling system introduces cold water and evacuates the warmer water so that the surface temperature of the cylinder remains constant. The warm water behaves similar to condensate in relation to the cylinder’s speed, and like condensate, it puddles, cascades and rims.
