NEXEN AIR CHAMP Clutch BRAKE
APPLICATIONS
Module, Single Position Clutch on SCR Drive and Indexing Table
Problem
A manufacturer of jar caps was looking for a way to maintain efficiency while ensuring synchronization between two different operations.
Solution
The customer uses a Nexen MDB-1125 clutch/brake module and 5H30P-SP single position tooth clutch to address the synchronization issue. Jar caps are fed onto the indexing table and placed into exact pocket locations prior to transfer to a threading operation. In the event of a malfunction, photo electrics signal a control valve to apply the brake and disengage the clutch which stops the indexing table in .1 seconds. "Repositioning" can be done by manually disengaging the 5H30P-SP with the handwheel. Then, with the modular clutch re-engaged, the indexing table can be restarted in synchronization.
