"K" Diaphragm Brake on Steel Strapping Dispenser
Problem
This OEM application demanded a way to avoid overruns when steel strapping was unreeled from a strapping dispenser machine.
Solution
To control tension in the of the dispenser, a Nexen "K" diaphragm was used. The dispenser's air motor drives a de-reeler and a 36-inch (outside) diameter coil which has a capacity of 1000 pounds. To ensure proper tension and avoid overrunning, an air switch shuts off the air motor and applies the diaphragm air brake.
