Norman G. Clark DIAMETER SENSOR
When winding or unwinding any flexible material the tension in the material alters as a function of the change in radius and circumference. This may cause wrinkles, sags, changes in length, width or thickness, or breakage of the material. Tension control is particularly important for materials such as paper, foil, film, laminates, rubber, fabric, fine wire etc. The use of a Diameter Sensor allows improvement to productivity, product quality and reduces wastage.
Features
- Simple reliable design for many general tension sensing applications.
- Provides varying air pressure dependent on roll diameter to the Pneumatic Horton/Air Champ clutch or brake to maintain correct tension irrespective of roll diamter.
- Fully adj ustable for different materials, widths, tensions etc.
- Simple mounting with no modifications required to existing equipment.
- Maximum and minimum air pressure requirements are established by calculating minimum and maximum torque requirements. A detailed Horton/Air Champ catalogue is available for clutch and brake selection.
Brake Application
Position air pressure regulator to obtain maximum air pressure at maximum batch diameter. The correct tension will be maintained throughout the full batch processing. Maximum and minimum air pressure requirements are established by calculating maximum and minimum torque requirements and referring to the appropriate torque VS air pressure graphs for the Nexen Air Champ clutch or brake being used.
Clutch Applications
Similar to drawing, but maximum air pressure required at core and minimum air pressure at maximum O.D. of Roll.
