How it works
How a 3-Way System Works
Catalyst Plus Control
The catalyst removes CO and HC by reacting them with NOx – so all three have to be in balance. An oxygen sensor and electronic air/fuel controller hold the engine at the right (stoichiometric) mixture, which is when the catalyst works best: over 95% of CO and NOx removed in a closed-loop system.
