Capture Spilled Fuels and Solvents for Good

Imbiber Beads are a super-absorbent polymer for oils, fuels and solvents. They soak up to 27 times their own volume, lock the liquid in so it can’t leak back out, and cut the vapours that make spills dangerous. Norman G Clark supplies Imbiber Beads in Australia.

How it works

How Imbiber Beads Work

They absorb – and lock in – oils, fuels and solvents.

Absorb, Then Lock in

Imbiber Beads are a super-absorbent polymer made for organic liquids – hydrocarbons, fuels, oils and many solvents. Each bead swells to take in up to 27 times its own volume, and the liquid becomes part of the bead: it can’t be squeezed or leached back out.

Because they repel water, the beads take up the spill and leave water standing – so they work on wet roads and on open water, and booms can be left out ready to use.

Fewer Vapours

Locking the liquid in cuts the vapour above the spill by up to 600%, in many cases below the lower explosive limit – less risk of fire, explosion or breathing toxic fumes.

Shows When It’s Working

Imbicator products include Activation Awareness Technology: the beads change from white to pink as they start working and to red at full capacity, so responders know when to replace them.

Why Imbiber Beads, through Norman G Clark

Not Just Absorbed – Contained

27× Capacity

The highest sorption capacity in the industry.

No Re-Release

Captured liquid can’t be released, so no secondary contamination.

Up to 600% Less Vapour

Often below the lower explosive limit.

Hydrophobic

Unaffected by water – picks out the fuel and leaves the water.
