How it works
Choosing the Bearing
Match the bearing to the speed, load and environment.
Commercial Grade
Hardened steel balls in metal or plastic housings, for lower speeds and lighter loads. Plastic housings come conductive or non-conductive, with or without labyrinth seals against dust and dirt; stainless versions suit wet and corrosive areas.
Precision ABEC-1
Precision-ground, sealed bearings in chrome or 440, 304 or 316 stainless steel for higher speeds and heavier loads – the highest load and speed, lowest noise and longest life.
Bushings
Non-ball bushings in Ultra (acetal with Teflon), acetal, UHMW or ABS for slow, light gravity and push conveyors – sanitary, corrosion-resistant and maintenance-free, wet or dry.
Why conductive housings matter
Static Control
Static Builds Up
Moving rollers can charge to 30,000–40,000 V.
Shocks and Sparks
Discharges shock operators and can ignite flammable dust or vapours.
Electronics
Some components are damaged by as little as 20 V.
Conductive Plastics
Let the charge pass safely from roller to frame to earth.
