Solutions

What Do You Need to Get into the Turning Part?

Your industry

Cool a Roll with Water

Carry water into a turning roll or drum – and back out – without a leak.

Heat a Roll with Steam or Hot Oil

Bring steam or hot oil into a heated roll, and take the condensate out.

Power Clamps and Clutches

Feed air or hydraulic oil to chucks, clamps, clutches and brakes as they turn.

Several Supplies, One Shaft

Keep oil, air, coolant and vacuum apart inside one union.

Coolant Through the Spindle

Feed coolant, oil mist or air through a machine tool spindle at high speed.

Let Pipework Move

Swivel joints let pipes turn and tilt with presses, arms and platens – safer than hose.

Keep the Rig Turning

Long-life washpipes, service kits and unions for drilling rigs.

Power and Signals Too

Slip rings pass electricity and data into turning machines – alone or with fluids.

How they seal

Four Ways a Rotating Union Seals

Pressure Joints

Sealed by the pressure of the fluid, with a strong spring for start-up. Simple, but they take more effort to turn and suit only low pressures (under 17 bar).

Soft Seals

Polymer seals: compact, and good for slow or stop-start turning – but they wear and warm up faster.

Hydrostatic Seals

The turning part floats on a thin film of fluid, so nothing touches. Long life at high pressure, but limited to a few thousand rpm.

Mechanical Seals

Precisely flat, balanced seal faces: low wear, low heat, and they work above 140 bar and 40,000 rpm.
