Cleaner Exhaust from the Engines You Already Run

Nett Technologies designs and makes emission control for diesel, LPG, CNG and petrol engines – catalysts, particulate filters, exhaust diluters and flame traps – so existing machines can keep working cleanly, indoors and underground. Norman G Clark supplies and supports Nett in Australia.

How it works

How Nett Emission Control Works

Each technology works on a different part of the exhaust problem.

Catalysts Burn Off the Gases

A diesel oxidation catalyst turns carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water as the exhaust passes over a coated metal or ceramic honeycomb. On LPG, CNG and petrol engines a 3-way catalyst also removes nitrogen oxides, with an oxygen sensor and air/fuel controller keeping the engine at the right mixture.

Filters Trap the Soot

In a wall-flow particulate filter, every channel is blocked at one end, so exhaust has to pass through the porous walls – the soot can’t. A catalyst coating lets the trapped soot burn away in normal running, when the exhaust is hot enough (about 275–300 °C for a quarter of the time).

Diluters Cool and Spread It

An FD-Series diluter draws in five to ten times as much fresh air as exhaust, cooling it from about 450 °C to 70–80 °C and spreading it further from people.
